The inaugural episode of Learning in Public,

a new venture from John Bruce Leonard and me.

The focus of this first show was exploring our initial distinctions between

globalism as a political/moral ideology and

the increased globalization of the world due to technology and ease of travel/transport.

Where are the lines between bucking against nefarious machinations to

smush the world together into a docile consuming class and the

increasingly inevitable–and hopefully at times edifying–cross-cultural exchanges due to technology?

What does this mean for maintaining meaningful experiences of our unique cultures,

and for the lives of people who do not work in more mobile, information/service based fields in the West?
